Source: https://dev-docs.nebula-graph.io/v5.3.2/intro/limitations/ Documentation version: v5.3.2 # Capabilities and limits NebulaGraph Database Developer Edition runs on one Docker host with one replica per partition. Each instance can store up to 1 GB of data. ## Deployment limits | Item | Limit | What this means | Deployment | Docker Compose only | Developer Edition is for learning and application development only. Production use is not supported. The environment must support Docker containers and have Docker and Docker Compose installed. | Docker hosts | One Docker host only | Scaling and distributed deployment are not supported. | Service groups | One only, created and initialized automatically during deployment | You cannot create additional service groups. All graphs share the same service group, with logical isolation between graphs. | Meta services | One only | You cannot deploy multiple Meta services. High availability is not supported for the Meta service. | Data partitions | One only, excluding the system partition | You cannot add data partitions. The single partition limits query parallelism and performance. | Replicas | Only one per partition; the count cannot be changed | No redundant replica is available for failover. Lost data cannot be recovered from another replica. | Cluster synchronization | Not supported | Primary–standby disaster recovery is not supported. | Data size | Up to 1 GB per instance | For development and validation only; not suitable for testing with large datasets or running performance tests. See [Deploy Developer Edition with Docker Compose](https://dev-docs.nebula-graph.io/v5.3.2/get-started/deploy/) for deployment steps. ## Terms - Docker host: The physical or virtual machine running Docker. - Service group: A group of Graph and Storage services that work together to query and store graph data. - Meta service: A service that manages information about hosts, service groups, partition placement, and user identities. - Partitions and replicas: The data partition stores graph data. The system partition stores metadata for Schemas, graph types, and graphs, along with permissions, configuration, and other system information. A replica is a copy of a partition's data. High availability is not supported If the Docker host or its storage fails, no other replica can take over. Lost data cannot be recovered from another replica.
