Source: https://dev-docs.nebula-graph.io/v5.3.2/intro/introduction/ Documentation version: v5.3.2 # Developer Edition overview NebulaGraph Database Developer Edition is a graph database for learning graph data modeling, writing graph queries, and developing applications. It uses a single-host deployment, with storage, query processing, and other database services running on the same development machine. ## Use cases - Learn graph data modeling. Define graph structures and use nodes and edges to represent data and relationships. - Write and test queries. Use [GQL (Graph Query Language)](https://dev-docs.nebula-graph.io/v5.3.2/database-gql-reference/overview/) to create graphs and insert, query, update, and delete data. Check that your queries return the expected results. - Develop and test applications. Use an SDK or the REST API to access NebulaGraph Database Developer Edition from your application and test data access and application features. ## Limits Developer Edition is for learning and application development only. Production use is not supported. Each instance can store up to 1 GB of data. You cannot scale an instance by adding Docker hosts. See [Capabilities and limits](https://dev-docs.nebula-graph.io/v5.3.2/intro/limitations/) for other restrictions. To test with large datasets or run performance tests, [contact Vesoft](https://nebula-graph.io/contact) to get Enterprise Edition. ## Deployment Developer Edition supports Docker Compose deployment only. Docker Compose uses a configuration file to start the containers required by NebulaGraph Database Developer Edition. You do not need to request or configure a license file for Developer Edition. See [Deploy with Docker Compose](https://dev-docs.nebula-graph.io/v5.3.2/get-started/deploy/) for deployment steps. ## Get started Follow the [Quick start](https://dev-docs.nebula-graph.io/v5.3.2/get-started/deploy/) to deploy NebulaGraph Database Developer Edition, load the `movie` sample dataset, and run queries. See [Graph data concepts](https://dev-docs.nebula-graph.io/v5.3.2/intro/concepts/) for explanations of nodes, edges, types, and graphs. After running your first query, you can follow the [Application tutorials](https://dev-docs.nebula-graph.io/v5.3.2/app-development/) to build an application that looks up a movie's cast.
